THANKS SO MUCH ADVOCATES! WITH YOUR HELP WE ACCOMPLISHED SEVERAL SIGNIFICANT STEPS TOWARD STRENGTHENING OUR LOCAL FOOD SYSTEMS!

This legislative session WSFFN, our fabulous Good Food Coalition Partners and our tireless grassroots advocates helped strengthen our local food system by:

  • Restoring $250K for WSDA's Farm to School &  Small Farm Direct Marketing Programs

  • Passing legislation allowing wine and beer sampling at all farmers markets

  • $65 Million funding for WA Wildlife & Recreation Program which includes numerous farmland preservation projects across the state. Project List.

  • $208K to fund a farming dropout prevention pilot for youth administered by OSPI

  • Still unresolved is the expansion of the 2010 Small Farm Internship program in Skagit and San Juan Counties to 12 additional counties including King, Whatcom, Kitsap, Pierce, Jeffereson, Spokane, Yakima, Chelan, Grant, Kittitas, Lincoln and Thurston. The legislation did not pss but the funding was included in the budget causing confusion. Resolution pending.
