Quarter-Time Position (Approximately 7 - 15 hours per week)

Wage:  $22.00 to $24.00 per hour

Overview
The newly created part-time position of Financial Manager is key to the success of Tilth Producers of Washington. The purpose of the job is to manage the financial health of the organization.

Job Description
This position will develop and maintain sound financial management systems and work closely with the Managing Director to ensure the financial health of Tilth Producers.

The Financial Manager will do all bookkeeping entries, including payroll, accounts payable and receivables. He/she will prepare and file all state and local taxes, ensure the organization complies with all Federal and State laws, and keep and maintain all official records and documents. He/she will process/administer employee benefits, create and maintain employee files and administer the health benefits plan. He/she will prepare and make bank deposits, prepare and deliver quarterly budget-to-actual reports for Committee Chairs.

The Financial Manager will monitor the budget and prepare budget and other financial reports for the Board of Directors, as well as manage insurance(s). He/she will review contracts for events and contractual help and set up and administer systems for safe and efficient management of money at events, including the annual conference. The Financial Manager will prepare for and participate in any financial audits. She/he will work with the Board Treasurer to develop sound investment strategies.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years experience in full-charge bookkeeping, including understanding debits and credits, and passing a skills test
  • Experience and full knowledge of payroll 
  • Thorough knowledge of QuickBooks Pro and Excel 
  • Thorough knowledge of pertinent tax liabilities 
  • Must communicate clearly and work in cooperation with other staff and the Board 
  • Sound basic understanding of good internal control practices 
  • Full understanding of preparing and reading financial statements including cash flow statements 
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate workload fluctuations 
  • Non-profit experience preferred
